Thomas A.J. Papa, 47, of North Branford, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 24th, 2023, at his home. Anyone who knew tom appreciated his dry humor, generosity, and phenomenal cooking. He made the best cheesecake you will ever taste. Tom loved traveling the world and never hesitated to invite family and friends along for the adventure. Country was his music of choice. He would play it at all family events. Tom earned an associate degree from the University of New Haven. He worked in restaurants during his youth before finding his passion as a paramedic. He worked for American Medical Response (AMR) for over 20 years. He also worked for both North Branford and Madison Ambulance. Tom was born in New Haven on December 19th, 1975, and was the beloved son of Maryann Murano Papa and the late Thomas A.J. Papa. He was the loving companion to Kara L.C. Papa. Devoted father of Kaileb T.J. Papa. Brother of Shawna Holzer and Mark Papa (Tracey). Uncle to Trevor Holzer, Callie Holzer, Anthony Papa and Samantha Papa. His family will never forget how he brought us together with Sunday sauce, laughter, and mild demeanor. Tommy’s relationship expanded beyond his immediate family to his parents-in-law David (Victoria) Caroline and nieces and nephews on his companion Kara’s side. They also had a strong bond with Tom. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Ambrose Parish at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford on Wednesday morning, November 29th at 11:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers and if so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Kaileb T.J. Papa Education Fund.

I had the pleasure of working with Tommy at AMR. He had a way of getting a little chuckle out of those nearby with his quick humor. My thoughts go out to Tommy’s family.
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Tommy at AMR. He was a great medic, a wonderful coworker, and generally just a delightful human. When Tommy was around there was sure to be lots of laughter.
He will be missed immensely by everyone who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him.
Sorry for your family loss
From appetizer Fridays, you covering for me when I was going to get ordered In. Plenty of days/nights at the elks. Secrets and laughs. I will miss you. You were probably one of the best medics I knew/worked with. As well as a great friend. Be free my friend. Love you!!
So many great times from DRT deployments to the Elks. You were such a great friend we did a lot together, laughed, cried and got mad. The many days at the Elks and you teasing my husband. I will forever remember all the good times and not so good times, the secrets, honesty and everything in between. I know your family knows what a special person you were and one of the best medics I had the pleasure to work with. You are now at peace! Fly high my friend. Love you.
So sorry for your loss
I have SO many memories with Tommy in them! We knew each other since grade school and crossed paths over and over in adulthood. Working with Tom made for constant fun and laughter. He helped me out immensely with a sick family member, more than once, which I will never forget. Tom had the biggest heart. He touched so many, and will be greatly missed but always remembered. My deepest condolences.
May the gentle hand of our Heavenly Father embrace all who are grieving, especially Tommy’s loved ones. May you all have the faith to sustain the mysterious works of our Lord.
Thoughts and prayers for your family during this difficult time.
Rest easy in Paradise
