Thomas F. Papallo, Jr., of John Creek, GA, passed away on March 13, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend. 

Born July 14, 1959, in Meriden, Connecticut, Tom was raised in Plainville, CT and graduated from Plainville High School.  He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut (UConn) with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, earning the prestigious GE Klein Steinmetz scholarship. He later earned a Master of Science degree from UConn. Tom worked at various companies where he specialized in circuit breaker design.  While at General Electric Company for 25 years, he obtained 56 patents related to circuit breakers and electrical safety.  Tom was a key member of a team that evaluated acquisitions for GE internationally.  For a few years, he ran the advanced development team at the GE Power Distribution Products division.  In 2003, Tom won the GE Corporate Edison Engineering Award for his revolutionary Entellisys Low Voltage Switchgear system, which is still best in class today. 

Most recently, Tom worked for Siemens US in Norcross, GA, as Manager of Industrial Standards, where he worked on the national electrical installation code (NEC) and other electrical safety related standards. 

A longtime member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a professional association, Tom authored of co-authored, and presented several white papers in his field and participated in various committees and standards working groups. 

Tom will be greatly missed for his love of his family, his willingness to always help out, and his sense of humor.  He enjoyed driving his convertible and vacationing in Cape Cod. 

Tom was pre-deceased by his father, Thomas F. Papallo, Sr. He leaves his mother, June Papallo of Norwalk, CT; his children, Richard T. Papallo of Berlin, CT, and Christina M. Papallo of John Creek, GA; his sister, Carolyn Brown (Donald Lee) of Newnan, GA; Laura Papallo Friedman of Weston, CT; and his nieces, nephews and a grandniece.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday at 12 noon to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, If you would like to make  a Memorial Contribution, please make it to Laura Papallo Friedman of the 10th Legion. The attorneys are  drawing up a Trust for Richard and Christina so that they will have some financial security in their future. Thank you everyone!
