Vincent J. Maiocco, 93, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Frances A. Ferraro Maiocco. Vincent was born in Bridgeport on September 13, 1929; son of the late John and Jennie Pilgoste Maiocco. He served his country faithfully in the US Army for two years during the Korean war and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954. Vincent earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, had worked as an accountant for many years with Columbia Records in New York City and later was the President of the CT Student Loan Foundation until his retirement. An avid golfer, Vincent was a member of the Farms Country Club, Wallingford where he once hit a hole-in-one. He enjoyed singing, painting, playing his trumpet, fishing and was a UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball fan. His family was his everything, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved his family unconditionally. Loving father of Bunny (Fran) Lynch, Sue (Mike) Zurlis, John (Bev) Maiocco, Rich (Troy) Maiocco, Corky (Bob) Jermine, Patti (Doug) Carman, Chris (Michelle Mele) Maiocco and Janet (Santino) Calabro. Brother of Dr. Kenneth (Maxine) Maiocco, the late Angela (Louis) Cappucci and the late Honorable John P. Maiocco. Brother-in-law of Claire Maiocco. Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his grandson Gregory J. Zurlis. Vincent will be truly missed.
The visiting hours will be Sunday, Dec. 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Paul VI Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Monday morning, Dec. 19th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the North Haven Center Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made online to the Vincent J. Maiocco Scholarship at fairfield.edu.give or a charity of one’s choice.

Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wallingford and Cheshire Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics. We were founded in 2017 by Mark Halliday and Robert Boucher. Our Veterans are an exceptional group and our intention is to bring together to socialize, offer assistance and support. At this very difficult time, our group would like to honor the loss of Vincent Maiocco as a fallen brother.
