Vincent “Red” P. Ematrudo, 82, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Benchmark Senior Living, Hamden with his cousins Ann and Maria by his side. Vin was born and raised in New Haven on March 25, 1941, and was the son of the late Michael and Gilda Bracale Ematrudo. He graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1959. Vin served his country faithfully in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked for United Illuminating for many years. Vin was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Vin is survived by many cousins, his Goddaughter Kim Cappucci Olsson, and two cousins Ann Leonardo Palmeri and Maria Cappucci Scafariello who helped care for him while at Benchmark. Predeceased by his sister Concetta (Etta) Ematrudo. A special thank you would like to be extended to the staff at Benchmark and Constellation Hospice for the excellent care provided over the past six years.
The visiting hours will be Thursday morning, August 3rd from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
