Virginia James Place, 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late John R. Place. Virginia was born in Manchester on December 18, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Doris Rogers James. She was a longtime member of the Pattaconk Yacht Club; was an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn women’s basketball fan. Aunt of Susan (John) Rosadini, Deborah (Jerry) Ruocco, Donna James, Eileen (Matthew) Ouellette and the late Kathryn James Baker whom she raised as daughters. Great-Aunt of John, Kevin, Lauren and Brian Rosadini, Michelle Ruocco, Kelsey (Christina) and Megan Ouellette. Also survived by several other nieces and nephews, and will be missed dearly by her dog Heidi. Predeceased by her sisters Janet Heffernan, Constance Lingo, Warren, Donald and Roger James.
Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
