Wayne A. Mele, 78, of North Haven passed away on Friday, October 7th, 2022 at Backus Hospital, Norwich. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to the late Maryann Dauria Mele. Wayne was born in New Haven on August 25, 1944 and was the son of the late Carmine and Libera Giacomini Mele. An Ironworker for many years, Wayne was a member of the Ironworkers Union #424. He enjoyed baseball and was a fan of the New York Yankees and was also a car enthusiast. Father of Anthony (Teresa) Mele. Grandfather of Victoria and Isabella Mele. Brother of Kenneth (Gerry) Mele and the late Gerald Mele.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford on Wednesday morning, Oct. 12th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the All Saints Mausoleum.
wayne, my brother, i was shocked to hear of your passing. i have to think about this for awhile before i write.
We were friends in Little League 67 years ago.Wayne was an honest man.A loving proud father,devoted husband,wonderful teammate.We would sing oldies laugh about everything,so many things thru so long a time.Learning of this today I can only say a part of me is gone also.He gave me more than I Ever gave him. Another break the mold guy you won’t see another He will truly be missed by me and numerous others. In his words to me So Long Sailor!!

My thoughts and sympathies go out to the Mele Family . Had the privilege of working with Wayne on several projects and got to know him well over years in the various officer positions I held in Local 424. Very proud and skilled Ironworker would be an understatement . He will forever be remembered and held in high regard by the IRONWORKERS of Local 424 New Haven, CT ! RIP Brother .
Wayne and I were friends since grammar school we remain friends until this day he will truly be missed as a very close friend rest in peace
