William Fred Nelson 65, of Branford, CT passed away on March 6th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. Will was born on April 22, 1956 in Chicago, IL to the late Morton Benedict Nelson and Joan George Coyle. Left to carry on his memory are his loving sisters Julia Ann Nelson of Haddam, CT, Barbara Lou Nelson of Krakow, PL, beloved life partner Margaret (Marti) Tito of Branford, CT, his daughter Dr. Brittany Colleen Nelson, her husband Marc Troxel of Irvine, CA and Brianna Nelson of CA. He is predeceased by his daughter Lauren Nelson. Throughout his successful career, Will was a software engineer and marketing director for several start-up companies through out the country. He was also a USAF Vietnam era and a National Guard Veteran. Will enjoyed science fiction movies, cooking , playing Black Jack, and traveling as well as spending time with his family and his loyal dog Lucy. He had a witty sense of humor and a kind heart. He will be deeply missed. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital’s MICU for their excellent care of him. The visiting hours will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm with a service at 2:30pm on Saturday, March 26th at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels To Towers through their website www.t2t.org.

Although I haven’t known Wil for a long time I am honored to have known him for the time I have. He will he remembered as a gentle, soft spoken man with a good and generous Heart. He was an excellent listener and was very patient. Traits almost uncommon in these times.
His Memory will live on within those hearts he loved and cherished. Rest in Peace Daddy Dog, Rest in Peace.
We knew Wil for only a short time. He was a soft spoken man, kind and compassionate. His ability to listen is a trait not too common today and his smile was warm and contagious. Wil’s Love for those closest to him will live forever in their Hearts.

To Marti and Will’s family, I didn’t get to know you but I know that you must of been a wonderful man. You made my friend Marti so very happy with your sense of humor, gentle soul, kind and compassionate manner. You won her heart and loved you so much. Thoughts and Prayers to you all that knew Will.
