William James Maroney, 95, of North Haven formerly of New Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford.  He was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette Golia Maroney.  William was born in New Haven on September 29, 1922 and was the son of the late Leslie P. and Katherine Carey Maroney.  He served his country faithfully in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the AMVETS Local #9.  He had worked as a Machinist for the former Belmore & Johnson Tool Corporation for many years until his retirement.  William enjoyed nature and all it had to offer, loved gardening and his annual set-back tournaments with his late son Bill, but most of all his family was his everything whom he loved unconditionally.  Father of Linda (Jack) Martin, John Maroney and the late William “Bill” Maroney.   Father in law of Nancy Ann Maroney.  Grandfather of Jonathan and Eric Maroney.  Great grandfather of Jonathan Maroney II.  Predeceased by his siblings Jane Foley, Leona Goode, Leslie Maroney and Catherine Johnson.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.The family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to dad’s caregiver Stacy Eldridge for the excellent care and comfort she provided.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm.  Should friend’s desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108 or ALS Association, 4 Oxford Road, Unit E4, Millford, CT 06460
